Sometimes a light body massage from bubble jets is not enough. If you want to target those stubborn, recurring back pains while you soak, you’ll need a more powerful massage jet to do so. This is what this model’s hydro jet system has to offer.

It also excels in keeping the water fresh and clean. with its dual water treatment system, maintaining the spa becomes a lot easier. As a matter of fact, the saltwater treatment makes this hot tub safe for those who are allergic to chlorine.

These features may sound great, but do they really deliver? In the next sections, you’ll learn what to expect and what not to expect with this high-end inflatable hot tub.

Massage System

Most inflatable hot tubs come with only bubble jets and this can already be enough for most people. SaluSpa Hawaii comes with both bubble jets and hydro massage jets.

The bubble jets line up the bottom perimeter of the tub. They produce bubbles which give a light, full-body massage. Once turned on, they produce bubbles that gently massage your entire body.

They also produce a sound similar to a small vacuum cleaner which can be too loud for those who wanted to have a peaceful soak.

Fortunately, if you’re planning to get a massage and have a quiet time while you de-stress, you can always choose to use the hydro jets instead.

SaluSpa Hawaii has a total of 8 hydro or massage jets installed. 2 of each are installed in each corner of the tub. This is a great design for a square-shaped hot tub as you would preferably position yourself at the corner for more leg room.

These hydro jets pump out a more targeted and pressurized massage which is perfect for back pains.

The angle of the nozzles is fully adjustable so you can have it focus on specific areas of your back.

Heating System

The heating system installed in the control unit heats up the water at a rate of 2 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit per hour. Honestly, it doesn’t seem that “rapid” to me at all.

Depending on the starting water temperature, it might take overnight to reach the maximum temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

To go around this shortcoming, you can fill your hot tub with warm water through a hose. Keep in mind that you should not use water hotter than 104 degrees, as anything beyond that can damage the inflatable hot tub’s materials.

Bestway also included an insulated cover to help keep the heat in when not in use and to keep the water clean as well.

Filtration System

A filtration system is installed on one of the sides of the inner wall. It is responsible for keeping the water clean from hair or chemical residues from lotions.

It makes use of 2 replaceable filter cartridges which you can easily buy online. Bestway has included 2 starter cartridges so you can start using your inflatable hot tub when you receive it.

This model also has 2 built-in water treatment systems. Saltwater and hard water treatment.

Capacity

SaluSpa HydroJet Pro has a large capacity, which is able to accommodate up to 6 people. In reality, as we have discussed on comfortable capacity in our article here, only up to 4 persons can actually sit comfortably in this tub.

The square shape of this inflatable spa makes a big difference compared to the other round shapes, surprisingly. You get more leg room to stretch out when you seat in one of the corners, where the hydro jets are conveniently located as well.

Setting Up

Compared to permanently installed tubs, you do not need any professional help in setting this inflatable hot tub up. If you already have any experience in setting up air beds or inflatable sofa, it is just as easy.

Basically, you just need to inflate the hot tub and the cover, attach the control unit and fill it up with water.

The minimum temperature that the inflatable hot tub can endure is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Prolonged exposure to anything lower can lead to breakage.

If you still want to set it up during winter, you should place the hot tub inside an enclosure, like a shed or inside a garage. Just be sure to consider the ventilation, humidity and a place to drain the water.

There’s another caveat that you need to know about SaluSpa HydroJet Pro, though. It’s unable to run more than 2 functions at the same time.

If you don’t want the water temperature to easily drop down, even at a slow rate the best solution is to turn on the heater every now and then to bring the temperature back up. Then turn the massage jets on again. If you think about it, it helps you to save electricity in the long run instead of having the heater turned on the entire time.

Maintenance

With both treatment systems installed, this model of SaluSpa does almost all of the maintenance work for you.

You’ll need to only concern yourself with cleaning, and eventually replacing the 2 filter cartridges. Cleaning these cartridges can be done once a week with regular use, which only involves hosing it down and throwing it in the dishwasher.

Dimension

SaluSpa Hawaii HydroJet Pro is square in shape. It has an overall dimension of 71 x 71 inches, or 5.9 x 5.9 feet. This doesn’t include the control unit yet, which extends to about 2 feet from the hot tub.

The inner dimension is around 51 x 51 inches. This is because the walls are around 10 inches thick. The walls are quite sturdy once inflated, so you can sit on it comfortably.

Warranty & Support

Bestway offers the following limited warranty to this product:

• 1 year for the heater/control unit

Be sure to keep your original receipt, fill up the warranty form and have it registered for easier claims. You have to get all your bases covered. Bestway is quite notorious when processing claims if you don’t have the necessary documents. Even so, some customers with missing documents were able to get a replacement after going through a lot of hoops.

Consumer Ratings

Customers from Amazon gave SaluSpa Hawaii a high rating with more than 50% giving it a perfect score. Those who are very happy with this inflatable spa specifically loved the experience of being massaged by hydro jets.

20% of these customers had some very disappointing experiences with the manufacturer’s customer support, though, particularly when claiming for warranty.
